Black Sea Mnemiopsis
Database Workshop
15-16 December 2008, BSC/PS premises, Istanbul, Turkey
The
workshop was organized with the support of the Permanent Secretariat of
the Black Sea Commission (BSC/PS) in Istanbul. It
brought together leading scientists from the Black Sea region dealing with investigation of the
Mnemiopsis ledyi and Beroe ovata.
The main goal of the workshop was initiation of the activities on data
submission to the regional Black Sea Mnemiopsis leidyi and
Beroe ovata Database and elaboration of the agreement on Database usage policy.
Workshop participants, representing five marine institutions and BSC,
presented and analyzed the compatibility of the existing Black Sea
Mnemiopsis leidyi and
Beroe ovata data sets, thoroughly discussed principles
of the Database usage policy, agreed on data and metadata submission formats and
developed the Action Plan for 2009.
